Hidden iPhone Features: The iPhone has been one of the most successful of all devices launched by Apple so far. While the biggest competition it faces right now in the smartphone market is from Android devices, it has still successfully managed to hold on to its image as a premium device of Apple. This is primarily because of the simple design and the fairly easy operation of the software that runs the device (iOS).
It has been more than a decade since the first iPhone was launched by the company and since then Apple has focused to keep the user interface and the handling of the device as simple as possible. While it has succeeded in this regard to a great extent until now, there are still many features that remain hidden and can only be accessed by some special tweaks. These features are still unknown to a vast number of iPhone users and if you are also one of them then you will be surprised to know of these features. So just go ahead and take a look at the hidden iPhone features that we have listed below.
Hidden iPhone Features: The Truly Hidden Ones
It would be interesting to note that all of these below mentioned hidden iPhone features are not difficult to access at all. So even if you are a new iPhone user, you will be able to check out these features in one go.
1> Send Voice Messages Using iMessage App
This is first of the many hidden features of iPhone that you may not be aware of. If you use the iMessage app quite a lot to communicate with your family and friends then you will be surprised to know that you can also send voice messages in the app. To use the feature, just tap on the microphone icon that can be seen next to the text box in a conversation and record your message. After you are done with the recording just swipe up to send the message to the recipient. The user on the other end can listen to the voice message by tapping it.
2> Scan QR Codes Using the Default Camera
Did you know that you can now scan QR codes using the default camera of your iPhone? Well, all iPhones running on iOS 11 are now capable of scanning QR codes without having to depend on third-party QR code scanning apps. To use the feature just visit Settings and then open the Camera option. From the drop-down menu toggle the Scan QR Codes option to on. This will enable the camera to automatically scan QR codes when you place it close to a code.
Note: This feature will only work on iPhones running on iOS 11.0 and higher
3> Schedule Do Not Disturb to Avoid Notifications at Night
You may not be aware that you can schedule the Do Not Disturb feature of the iPhone to avoid getting notifications at night while you sleep. You can also schedule it to automatically turn on and off at fixed times every day to block notifications. In order to use the feature, you can dive to Settings and tap on Do Not Disturb option. From the display menu, toggle the Scheduled switch to On. Then tap on the display time just below the Scheduled tab and swipe up or down to set the time for which Do Not Disturb feature will be active.
4> Enable Dark Mode by Inverting Some Colors
If you are bored with the clean white interface of your iPhone and want to try out something darker for a change, you can use this hidden iPhone feature on iOS 11. This will provide a darker shade to the default user interface. To use this feature you can head to Settings> General> Accessibility> Display Accomodations> Invert Colors. Here you need to toggle the Smart Invert switch to On. This will automatically change the theme of the iPhone to a darker shade although the photos and videos will not be affected. 6> Find Emojis Faster Without Sorting
If you like to express yourself through different emojis instead of using words then you will find this feature handy. Instead of sorting through the whole bunch of emojis to find the best one, you can turn your words into emojis instead to express yourself faster. To use the feature open Messages, type a line of text and then tap the emoji button found on the left of the spacebar. This will automatically highlight the words that can be turned into emojis into orange. Now, to swap a particular word into an emoji just tap on the highlighted word and the emoji will set in. If there is more than one word that can be replaced with an emoji, you will get the option of choosing your favorite.
